This and That

Last week I attended a technology session with the district. Here are some highlights.

Chrome has extensions and apps you can add. When you are logged into StaffZone (or SchoolZone) and you go to the Chrome Web Store you will get suggestions for EPSB users.  Here are some suggestions of ones you may want to add to your teacher computer and/or student devices:

  • Read and Write (for Google Docs) – Adds accessibility features to Google Docs such as Text To Speech with Dual Synchronized Highlighting and Study Skills tools.
  • Google Dictionary – With this extension, you can double-click any word to view its definition in a small pop-up bubble.  View the complete definition of any word or phrase using the toolbar dictionary.
  • For music teachers… or for those who just want to Jam with Chrome and with friends.

Here are some websites that were shared that may be helpful:

  • Simple English Wikipedia – User-contributed online encyclopedia intended for people whose first language is not English.
  • Gmail Ninja – need a little extra help to learn how to maximize your use of your Share mail account?  Learn tips and tricks to save time, increase your productivity, and manage your email efficiently.
